What is MDF?

When asked what is MDF, let's look at its opening first. The word MDF consists of the initials Medium Density Fiberboard. MDF means medium density fiber plate. Approximately 90% of MDF is wood. The parts that occur when hard and soft trees are processed with chemical mixtures used at a certain rate are separated from the fibers with their special blades in dense steam. This is mixed using hardeners and special adhesives to reassemble the separated fibers. This resulting mixture is dried until it reaches the desired humidity in a hot air environment and the dried fibers are obtained by pressing twice. In the first press, it is ensured to stick together, while in the second press these combined fibers are shaped. The resulting plates are cooled and these plates are called MDF.

Where to use?

After answering the question of what is MDF, now let's answer the question of where MDF is used. MDF is widely used in many living areas such as home, office and restaurant. Its usage area has been the most known floor covering. In addition to the floor covering, it is also used in many different areas such as tables, doors, ceilings, handrails, built-in wardrobes, tables, consoles, bookshelves, kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets. It is not affected by environmental changes such as hot and cold, so there is no expansion and bending in MDFs. It is resistant to water, so it can be used easily in furniture such as kitchen and bathroom without a problem. Since it is a product used with wood, it is more preferred by people who want wood products.
